Introduction to VBS International:

The VBS, or Dutch Assocation of Independent Schools (DAIS) unites very different schools, from schools of natural learning to classical gymnasia, from Jenaplan, Montessori, Dalton & Waldorf Schools, from schools for fair children to schools for Dutch children abroad. Quit a lot of schools associated with the VBS are international active. The reason for this site therefore is:
- a service to our members to inform them about practices and developments outside the Netherlands which are interesting for them.
- to inform people outside the Netherlands about the unique Dutch educational system approach (altough this is less revolutionary nowadays then when it was started in 1917, and there are more rules know which hamper the possibilities of schools to grow and profile). The site is therefor partly in Dutch, mainly in Englisch.

Profile of the Dutch Association of Independent Schools (DAIS)

The Dutch Assocation of Independent Schools (DAIS) unites around 650 schools in primary, secondary and higher education in the Netherlands.

This site is to inform Dutch schools about interesting practices and developments in Europe and the World, and to inform people outside the Netherlands about the still but less then earlier unique educational system in the Netherlands.

The main targets of DAIS are:
- looking for the interests of independent schools
- sharing knowledge of educational practices and organisations
- member services like helping with setting up a new school, enlargement of schools
- tailormade services: law cases, financial management, h&r management

Profiel van de VBS - Verenigde Bijzondere Scholen

De Verenigde Bijzondere Scholen (VBS) is dé profielorganisatie voor bestuur en management van scholen met het andere onderwijs. Wij komen op voor de verscheidenheid in het onderwijsveld, voor scholen met een eigen identiteit en karakter. De VBS zoekt voortdurend naar mogelijkheden voor optimale vrijheid en autonomie van onze scholen binnen de gegeven omstandigheden. Wij ondersteunen en adviseren bij de profilering van het eigen schoolprofiel en staan onze scholen dagelijks met raad en daad bij.
